Politico Creates A Strawman In Their Strawman Post

In today's latest attempt by Politico to stay relevant after the election we find this article entitled "Straw Man? Historians say Obama is no Lincoln". Check out one of the "gems" in their narrative.

In Barack Obama's appearance last month on CBS's "60 Minutes," the conversation turned to the president-elect's long-time love of Lincoln.

"There is a wisdom there," Obama told interviewer Steve Kroft, "and a humility about his approach to government, even before he was president, that I just find very helpful."

Humility? Obama's frequent invocations of Abraham Lincoln — a man enshrined in myth and marble with his own temple on the National Mall — would not at first blush say much about his own instincts for modesty or self-effacement.

Here is the funny thing, I agree with the title. Here is the funnier thing, President Elect Barack Obama probably does too. In this two page article the hacktologists John Harris and Alexander Burns attempt to paint PEOTUS Obama as having compared himself to President Lincoln. The only problem is, for all of their rhetoric, they never can name a time when he has done so. I guess its a crime nowadays to have a hero or someone you admire that just so happened to be one of the most revered Presidents in history. Does anybody other than me WISH that our current President had been a student of history (or at least read a book or two on occasion) and that maybe HE had picked someone like Lincoln to try to emulate? Supposedly according to the Politico folks there is a growing "backlash" brewing from comparisons of Obama to Lincoln. Really? I mean in this bizarro world that pundits are creating I guess Obama also squeaked by to barely win on November 4th. There hasn't been one single poll that has shown President Elect's approval ratings below the mid 60s and thats before he has spent even one day in office. But to hear them tell it between "Blago Gate" and now "Lincoln" gate people are just lining up to throw President Elect Obama under the bus. The next thing you know we will be getting articles from Politico about the growing backlash against President Elect Obama because he admires Martin Luther King Jr.. I can see the headlines now "Why does Obama admire a Commie?" Stay tuned folks, I have a strong suspicion that things are going to get even nuttier over the next four years.
