"War Is Bigger Than Any One Man"

President Obama just fired General McChrystal and replaced him with General Petraeus. It was the right decision and the speech announcing the decision was everything you would hope it would be. I don't think another General will be granting any interviews any time soon.

I Just Have One Question

I am watching the Jeff Greene/Kendrick Meek debate online and from where I'm sitting Meek wiped the floor with him. Some of it is because Greene is just patently clueless but other parts Meek really did best him as when he called on Greene to run against him and not against his mother. But there was one topic they were equally bad on.

The flotilla incident.

They both offered full throated support of Israel's action even before they investigation they both say they support has even been formally initiated. In that spirit I would just like to ask both of them but especially the presumptive Democratic nominee Meek one follow up question.

No matter how unlikely it is, if the investigation comes back and the verdict is that Israel was wrong in their actions, what will you say then?

Obviously recent history with the Goldstone support suggests that in the end no matter what any investigation says both candidates will still say Israel was right, but in my opinion that is the worst enabling behavior and posture we could possibly have as a country right now. When we allow Israel free reign to do whatever they please whether we agree with it or not and back them unconditionally we in fact hand over our national security to them. It has been that way and it will continue to be that way until someone has the balls to get up and say "While I support Israel's right to defend herself in this situation she was wrong and should acknowledge as much" it will remain that way.

Very very very disappointed.

Translation: Say It To My Face BITCH

So Generaly Stanley McChrystal, commander of our forces in Afghanistan, takes to the pages of Rolling Stone to talk shit about Joe Biden, Ambassador Eikenberry, and others all the way up to President Obama and then decides that he will just call around to offer his apologies.

Sorry bruh, not good enough.

I only hope that before President Obama shit cans this turd that he forces him to sit there and be humiliated for his actions. You simply can not have military leaders undermining the office of the President. Patton had to learn the hard way and now McChrystal should get the same lesson.

Can't Be All Things To All People

I watched the President's address last night and thought it was pretty good. Then I heard liberal and progressive pundits basically savage the address. Stepping back from the fray I think there is an important reason why we had divergent views on the speech. I felt like the President had this address for average folks who want to know what the hell is going on with the oil spill and how is the government responding. Liberal and progressive pundits seemed to think the speech was for them and people like them to make the case for climate change legislation and push for carbon pricing.

Im sorry but I don't think average people give a shit about that right now. Maybe down the line when we aren't seeing pictures of marine animals dying covered in oil they will want to hear it. But at the moment they want to know specifically about the oil spill in my opinion. And in that realm I thought Pres Obama did an excellent job of laying it all out.

I wonder if some of those folks knocking him last night were to reorient their expectations then watch the speech again if they would change their critique even if only in private. Somehow I bet they would. Unfortunately pundits drive public opinion so for some folks who may have though the speech was just fine, they will end up changing their opinion about it because Ezra Klein or Rachel Maddow or Chris Matthews said it wasn't good enough.

But here is the video anyway. Try to make up your own mind about.

The Very Definition Of Collective Punishment

So Chuck Schumer comes out with a full throated endorsement of the Israel blockade on Gaza which by his own words breaks international law and is morally abhorrent.

Niiiiice.

The saddest part isn't what he said, its that he will suffer absolutely no political blowback for it. It won't hurt him as a Senator and if Harry Reid loses in the fall it won't hurt his quest to be the next Majority Leader.

And that ladies and gentlemen shows why no matter which party is in power our Middle East policy is a fucking joke.

Labor Shouldn't "Waste" Another Damn Dime On The Mid Terms

Here's what they think about you:

A senior White House official just called me with a very pointed message for the administration's sometime allies in organized labor, who invested heavily in beating Blanche Lincoln, Obama's candidate, in Arkansas.

"Organized labor just flushed $10 million of their members' money down the toilet on a pointless exercise," the official said. "If even half that total had been well-targeted and applied in key House races across this country, that could have made a real difference in November."

My advice to Labor would be this, take the "senior White House official's" advice and save your money. Don't give a single damn dime to any candidates in the midterms save those who have been nothing but loyal to Labor's issues. And I mean NOTHING BUT LOYAL. If there is any question, sit the race out. Hell if the White House is taking victory laps SURELY they can raise all the money and get out all the votes they need to keep the House and the Senate this year.

At this point I am seriously like fuck those guys.

*Oh and since Chris Matthews was crying like a bitch for weeks to get the President to "show some emotion" and now is acting like the word "ass" is just sooooo uncouth, FUCK HIM TOO!!!

GET OVER HEREEEEEEEEE

God PLEASE let this be an actual preview of an actual movie. DAMN!

I Can See The Future

So now President Obama has come out and said he wants to "kick some ass", seemingly giving the chattering class the emotion they have been looking for.

BUT....

I predict that the same folks who said he wasn't "angry" enough will now try to portray him as a thug, as being over the top, as being out of control.

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they said he was going to take all the white women.

Just watch how quick they pivot. The shit will give you whip lash.

"You guys work hard. You deserve it"

Charlie Crist has got some 'splainin to do...

Gov. Charlie Crist personally signed off on his former Republican Party chairman's confidential fundraising role with the state party, according to Jim Greer's attorney, whose allegation contradicts the governor's statement that he "didn't know anything" about the deal now part of a criminal investigation.

State investigators say Greer and the party's former executive director, Delmar W. Johnson III, secretly set up a shell company called Victory Strategies to divert party money and enrich themselves. Greer was charged Wednesday with fraud and money laundering.

But Greer's attorney, Damon Chase, said Saturday that the deal giving them a 10 percent cut of party donations was legal. What's more, Chase said Crist's former right-hand man, now U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, first proposed the idea that they earn a fundraising commission to save the party money and replace the $30,000-a-month contract with fundraiser Meredith O'Rourke.

"You guys work hard. You deserve it," Chase said Greer was told by the governor as they played pool in February 2009 at a Palm Beach golf tournament.

Israel Admits To Doctoring Flotilla Audio

(CNN) -- Israel acknowledged Sunday that it edited recordings of what it said were anti-Semitic and anti-American radio calls by pro-Palestinian activists who tried to run the Gaza blockade and that it could not identify the origin of the broadcasts.

The Israeli military released a 26-second recording Friday night in which a warning call to a ship in the flotilla was met with the reply of "Shut up -- go back to Auschwitz." After another voice reports that the convoy has the permission of Palestinian officials to dock in Gaza, a third voice responds, "We are helping Arabs going against the U.S. Don't forget 9/11, guys."

But after the organizers of the aid convoy accused Israeli officials of manipulating the tapes, the Israel Defense Forces reported it had mistakenly identified one of the six ships in the activists' "Freedom Flotilla" as the source of the broadcasts. And it released a nearly six-minute recording of radio traffic that included those calls and several others, along with bursts of static and calls in other languages on the same channel
.

snip

On the full recording, an Israeli warship hails one of the vessels in the flotilla to warn it was approaching a blockade zone and warned that "all necessary measures" would be taken to prevent it from docking in Gaza. After three warnings, Free Gaza activist Huwaida Arraf replied that the blockade was a violation of international law and that the convoy was carrying only humanitarian aid.

"We do not carry anything that constitutes a threat to your armed forces," she says on the recording

CNN

And of course the people backing Israel have quoted that audio all week to claim that the Freedom Flotilla was full of anti semites and people who were pro Hamas.

You really expect us to trust Israel to run their own investigation behind this incident?

Respectfully, get the fuck out of here with that bullshit.

Cenk DESTROYS Tweety And Barney Frank

This video should go viral just because Chris Matthews is the worst hack on TV right now and Barney Frank should be ashamed of himself for trying to not only claim that all of the people in that flotilla were "pro Hamas" but also trying to demonize Turkey, one of our NATO allies

Pound The Rock!!!

On the one hand I believe that its gotten to be silly season since it was divulged that Richard Blumenthal embellished his record of military service with respect to whether he served in Vietnam or not. The efforts but Republican asshats like Senator Orrin Hatch to now try to criminalize such lies is just the latest example of game playing by the minority party meant to make all Democrats look bad. The fact that since he introduced the idea of putting forth such legislation we have now discovered several Republican office holders and candidates who ALSO lied about their military records to me is just much ado about nothing for the most part. It should be as simple as telling politicians to knock it off and if they don't to vote their lying ass out of office if you ask me rather than trying to make it, literally, a federal offense. So I haven't really gotten exorcised either way about the situation.

Until now.

Democrats have been given one of the biggest gifts in recent memory. Darrell Issa, he of the relentless quest to find something to investigate the Obama administration over, had his own problems about embellishing his military record it seems. This is the perfect opportunity for Democrats to come off their high horse and start playing the sport of politics the way its supposed to be played. Issa seems bound and determined to make headlines over bullshit so its high time we started making those bright lights a LOT hotter for him.

Every time Issa appears on TV opposite a Democrat to push his latest attempt to order a Congressional investigation, the questions about his military service should come up. Maybe it doesn't have to be a direct shot with both barrels at first but just casually mention that they support investigations into people who lie about their military record whether in office or not because its like committing fraud. And once you start using that term keep using it. Issa and fraud should become synonymous with all media outlets. Start leaking information to the papers, magazines, blogs about "rumors" of instances when he continues to embellish his record. Research just how many times he misrepresented his service over the years and put it out through back channels. Just keep pushing and pushing and pushing until he finds a rock to crawl back under.

This will kill two birds with one stone. For one it gets him to shut the hell up. For two it gets all his GOP buddies to see what can happen to them if they try to pull the same kinda shit. Really, there is no down side to this approach and I for one am sick and tired of seeing this asshole popping up everywhere making up shit out of whole cloth for political gain.

Bury his ass
