Don't shut your blog down. I was a lifelong registered Democrat but changed registration a couple of months ago and now am a member of no party. However, I will never vote for any enemies of America like this present and soon to be incoming krewe of Republicans who promise and pledge to be worse than the asshole Republicans and cowardly Democrats we had to deal with during the little Bush administrations. At least then, all they wanted to do was loot the country. These new assholes want to resume doing that plus impose their twisted thoughts on us through horseshit legislation and packing the DOJ and bench with assholes like them.

Would it be nice if the Democrats acted like an opposition party? Sure. Is that going to happen now? It would be a miracle if it did.

Keep the blog. Keep up the fight. We're all going to need it.

What's sad about it is how many people the Right Wing blowhards are able to dupe into voting squarely against their own self-interest. The super-duper-rich fat cats who run the Republican Party are actually a tiny minority, less than 1% of the US population who have their dirty but well-connected hands on the country's wealth without actually producing anything. But they're able to trick white Southerners in particular into voting for them.

This is despite the fact that poor white guys and gals would be screwed here there and just about everywhere else by the rich assholes who run the GOP. Southern whites have much lower levels of health insuring than other Americans, less education, less union protection, poorer health and other protections enjoyed by other communities that stand together better. Plus, southern white are more likely to be ripped off by predatory lenders and wind up in debt peonage.

But they're tricked into tying their own nooses. The super-rich assholes who run the Republicans just blow the doggy-whistle about them there colored folk gettin' uppity, and even the worst-suffering whites at the hands of those super-rich, fall into line.

Just like the Civil War all over again, most Southern whites didn't own slaves and were screwed over by the plantation owners (who got free labor and thus drove down the wages of the white individual farmers), so Southern whites lost out from slavery. But the plantation owners tricked the poorer whites into becoming cannon fodder for them, while the plantation owners exempted themselves from service. Only when Wilson and the Union generals penetrated the far South and targeted the plantation owners themselves, did the rich finally feel the pain they were forcing upon the poor whites that they themselves were manipulating.

It actually does seem to be getting a little better in my experience. I did some campaigning and even in NW Louisiana and other parts of the Deep South, we got some of the Southern whites to realize this. But there's a lot of propaganda that still has a vested interest in those people continuing to drink the Kool-Aid.

I agree with ya about Clinton and Crist, but I do just wanna say that the big difference b/t this and Sestak mess, is that from ALL reports it is Crist who intiated the talks with Clinton to get Meeks to drop out.

But you are right, the WH, did not really intervene enough. Although, i think Bill Clinton would still have tried to do what Crist asked of him, since he loves to be perceived a "captain save-a-ho" in terms of Democratic party

I hope that every American, regardless of where he lives, will stop and examine his conscience about this and other related incidents. This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. All of us ought to have the right to be treated as he would wish to be treated, as one would wish his children to be treated, but this is not the case.

I know those opposing the NY Community Center continue to say that that the majority supports them, but as history has taught us the majority is not always right. Would women or non-whites have the vote if we listen to the majority of the day, would the non-whites have equal rights (and equal access to churches, housing, restaurants, hotels, retail stores, schools, colleges and yes water fountains) if we listen to the majority of the day? We all know the answer, a resounding, NO!

Today we are committed to a worldwide struggle to promote and protect the rights of all who wish to be free. In a time of domestic crisis men of good will and generosity should be able to unite regardless of party or politics and do what is right, not what is just popular with the majority. Some men comprehend discrimination by never have experiencing it in their lives, but the majority will only understand after it happens to them.

Cenk, Rachel, Ed, Jane, Ariana, Keith, Bill Maher, Michael Moore et al are exactly right, and blind Obama allegiance by the Left is not only delusional but actively hurts the Progressive cause. We don't want a checklist of accomplishments in name only, we want for Obama to fight for Progressive legislation--even if he doesn't get it. When Gibbs said that Obama had "put two women on the SCOTUS, hooray, but these damn Libs were upset that they weren't Left enough," one should have nothing to do with the other unless he is so tonedeaf that he equates the advancement of token minorities with a Liberal judiciary. Does that mean Obama could have nominated Sarah Palin and Michelle Malkin to the SCOTUS and Gibbs would have had the same argument?
This isn't that complicated. Just like we wanted LIBERALS on the SCOTUS (not just "women for the sake of diversity), we wanted Health Care that did not strengthen the corrupt Health companies and hand them our uninsured for dessert, or give monopolies and massively favorable deals to Big Pharma. We wanted Financial Regulation that might prevent the next crash, not cement its certainty as Obama picks bank-friendly "regulators". We wanted real stimulus focused on the middle class and a green economy, not a Conservative deficit commission to cut our social security or 42% of the bill going to tax cuts.
Obama is chalking up "victories" and you are using them as bludgeons against the naysayers, despite that they are almost uniformly keeping things the same or making them worse. Bernanke. Bailouts to the corporations as he breaks or will break the unions when the states go bankrupt. New drilling contracts. Even wider invasions of privacy as per Bush's Patriot Act (which he re-upped) and even more leeway to detain or even assassinate terror suspects or stop granting them Miranda or civilian trials. A larger defense budget. The firing of Van Jones and Sherrod and de-funding of ACORN. Against gay marriage. Against prosecuting Bush war crimes. Trashing Bill Halter's support. Looking the other way on the possible end of Net Neutrality!!!!!! When Obama caps off Bush's 3rd term by attacking Iran, will you still be blaming the few on the Left who see that he is actually one of the most corporate anti-Left presidents in history?
The reason your devotion to him is hurting him and the Left is that he and Emanuel and Gibbs know you have no place to go. They have you as Obama voters permanently. Read: No reason to listen to you. No reason to move any policy to the Left or try to upset the Establishment and all of that corporate money flowing in. No reason to stop calling us "fucking retarded" because they know we won't support Romney and there isn't enough organization on the Left to mount a primary challenge from our side. I agree that the Left didn't get up from our computer chairs to shout down the Tea Party maniacs and fight for real health care reform, and so we got crumbs, and even the crumbs are expensive and full of loop holes to screw us. But it does not help when most on the Left tout Obama as the great chess player fighting for change. He IS playing chess, and he is playing it against YOU and you think you are on his side of the table.
