From the AP:
WASHINGTON – The chairman of the Senate Rules Committee has parted with many of her Democratic colleagues and says that the Senate should seat former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California said Tuesday that Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, however tainted by corruption charges, has the right to appoint someone to President-elect Barack Obama's former seat. The Rules Committee decides whether Burris is qualified to serve.

SG, I gotta switch it up and say I agree with Feinstein. I thought it was silly last week, but after revisiting it today, dude has a legitimate case, and as such has one less player hater to contend with. Count me in the Roland Burris for Senate camp.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't sleep...18 months is a long time to make something happen. Voters are fickle up and down, if he's even moderately cogent on the national issues, brings back the pork to his home state, and helps reduce unemployment in Chicago and down state dude will be a senator for the rest of his life...watch.

ReplyDeleteI said from damn near the start that they should seat him if for no other reason than to get the story off the front page. I only changed slightly when they started up with the race baiting. But at the end of the day its not a fight worth fighting especially if ultimately you are going to lose. Its HIGHLY likely that he will vote damn near 100% with the Dems and he will do no harm so to me it shouldn't be a problem. In 2 years you can primary him anyway and the voters can make their choice. Whoever wins the primary will enjoy Obama's phenomenal support and beat the shit out of whatever random Republican they put up against them.
