Here excuses about their being "arcane" rules and her own status as being new to everything were pretty laughable. I don't think anybody watching that interview with an open mind, especially in light of Rachel's commentary before hand, will take Shaheen very seriously after that.
And I just don't get it. Why would Shaheen align herself with that transparent silliness? She is a serious person, and seemed uneasy making transparently false arguments.
I am pretty sure she was heavily recruited to join the group just to up their numbers and make them look more important than they really are. Besides that she might want to be seen as having some power to shape the debate and legislation because of her affiliation with that group. But I think there is a fundamental problem with Evan Bayh and his crowd that mirrors that of the Rethugs where they don't really realize that the ground truly has shifted under their feet. They think they still have to look like and vote like a Republican to win reelection but I think they are going to get a rude awakening if they continue on this path. Remember that progressives successfully primaried Lieberman showing that it can be done. They just underestimated his ability as an independent in the general. Thats not likely to happen again.
It is interesting watching Bayh working for the interests of the banks against the interests of the people in Indiana in regards the mortgage negotiation issue. I seem to remember seeing somewhere that it is the people who do the voting. I don't think Bayh's nice, mild looking guy personna will help him much.
How the heck can someone be heavily recruited to do something that they disagree with? I was willing to give Shaheen points for a brain but sadly had to deduct points for lack of a spine. Bayh is evidently very very sure that his last name will keep him in his seat. He obviously has no clue at what the 'minions' are thinking....damn I wish I could blister MS for the minion crap!
wvng...see my comment on KT's post about Lee Atwater? I have been careful who and what I blister ever since. I do feel that MS should know better than fling hidden meaning words about, what with his education and all...but if he did not put some sort of trigger in his posts he wouldn't get the reply count that he so craves. Now, if he had called us lackeys I would demand the same lackey pay scale that he gets from the RNC.
Trust me Scherer will ALWAYS be fair game. KT is different because she engages in comments so she gets some cover. But there have been times I blasted her too, blow back be damned, if she said something I disagreed with. But of course you can always vent here, but I know I like the person who I am excoriating to be able to see it most of the times.
Shaheen simply filibustered the central points Rachel was making (51 vs 60) and making it more difficult to pass bills.
