Chris Matthews Is a Dick

So Tweety decides that he wants to talk about Jim Bunning blocking unemployment benefits for millions of Americans today. But instead of hitting Bunning for being an asshole, he invites on the Democratic nominee for Bunning's seat to bash HIM because the Democrats are being mean to Bunning.

No, I'm not kidding.

Its bad enough that Tweety ambushes the guy and acts like he is in the wrong because Democrats are exposing Bunning's hypocrisy, he also gets damn near every fact of the situation wrong proclaiming that Bunning wants to borrow from TARP to pay for the benefits when in point of fact Bunning is trying to kill the stimulus bill by borrowing from it. And of course Matthews TOTALLY forgot to mention that a few weeks ago when PAYGO was up for a vote, his baseball idol Bunning voted against it.

This kind of shit is beyond the pale and it would be helpful if people punished bad journalism like this rather than rewarded it with multi million dollar deals.

MSNBC and Chris Matthews should fucking apologize for such biased behavior.

A Quick Point About Chris Matthews' One Sided Concern Trolling

Yesterday Chris Matthews had two Congressional Democrats on his show, one a Blue Dog and one a member of the Progressive caucus, to talk about health care reform. Well really more than health care reform he just wanted to focus on the public option. Surprisingly Blue Dog Democrat, Michael Arcuri, agreed with Progressive Democrat Chaka Fattah that health care reform needs a public option. This gave Tweety absolutely no pause and instead he just pressed forward with his predetermined line of attack and kept chipping away at them and their support of the public option. He even invoked former President Bill Clinton to try to make the case that Demcrats need to pass a health care bill or else suffer a humiliating defeat. And by pass a health care bill he of course meant one without a public option. Just check it out and see how aggressively he pushes the two Congressmen about how far they are willing to take it to get a public option in the bill.

Now we all know that Tweety is a notortious concern troll but this segment took it to a whole other level. His whole premise is that if health care reform dies it will end up being the fault of liberals and progressives who want a public option. But lets look at the facts for a moment. A great majority of Democrats in the House want a public option. Similarly a great majority of Democrats in the Senate want a public option. So how is it that if a minority of Democratic Senators in the Senate are able to kill the public option that anybody can reasonably say its the fault of liberals and progressives if the bill fails?

I have a question for you, why the hell aren't people like Chris Matthews bringing on ConservaDems from the Senate like Blanche Lincoln and Ben Nelson and asking THEM if THEY are willing to kill the bill just because they don't like a public option? Why the hell aren't THEY being taken to task for being insufferable assholes who are going against not only the majority of Democrats in Congress but also the people of this country who support a public option in health care reform? If Tweety is really concerned and thinks Bill Clinton is right about Democrats needing to pass a bill today then maybe, just maybe he ought to take on the people who really might kill the bill and thats the Blue Dogs and the ConservaDems, not the liberal and progressive caucuses.

Its probably because its just so much easier to dumb on those "wacky far left libruls" than it is to hold bought and paid for "centrists" accountable for their actions and their votes. It is what it is.

Taking Pride In Being Ignorant: Chris Matthews Edition

I don't know if there is another political commentator on Tee Vee who is as frustrating to watch as Chris Matthews. When he gets it or when he actually knows the subject matter the guy is a virtuoso at beating people up with their own words and actions. But when he isn't familiar with the issue the guy will just go off the rails at the drop of a dime.

Today was especially aggravating because not only did he not know what the hell he was talking about, he decided to act like he DID know and berated one of the guests about something in the health care bill when she was right and he was absolutely wrong. Make it so bad, THAT GUY is supposed to be a liberal according to right wing talkers. So now he helps to further the right wing smear about euthanasia being in the bill instead of debunking something that every fact checking website has already said is a pile of crap.

Gee thanks Tweety!



Can somebody at MSNBC like KO or Rachel Maddow, pull this clown to the side and try to get him to actually research the stuff he talks about on his show?

David Ignatius Gets It

Very good segment on the "Chris Matthews Show" with David Ignatius explaining the justification for a public option in healthcare reform. I bet Tweety will now come off a lot more informed as well on the subject.

"Are We Gonna Get It Done Or Are We Going To Pussy Foot?"

Again Chris Matthews turns in a masterful performance today on Morning Joe. What he did to Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski was just the epitome of Awesome Sauce! And he makes the point I have been making about Joe Scarborough and all of the rest of the undercover wingnuts. They want to come up with what sounds like a reasonable opposition to healthcare reform just to obscure the fact that they are really against it and don't want it to pass. That's what it boils down to. If you really want healthcare reform you don't go looking for problems that will stop you from getting it done. Its all a game that they hope to rope people into so that they can turn them against reform by fear mongering over something like the deficit or "Washington beauracrats". Its the same flavor of crazy but with a little more sugar. And I damn near stood up cheering when Tweety called them out for it.

And when he calls Stolkholm Mika out for pussyfooting that was the BEST!!! lol.

We can't afford to allow these people to play these types of games anymore. Its time to put them on the spot and make them justify their opposition and or expose them for the frauds that they are. Looks like Tweety might just be the one out their leading the pack on this issue.

Exposed Yet Again.

This back and forth between Chris Matthews and Joe Scarborough illustrates yet again why I just can't quit Tweety. The guy is uninformed many times, uninterested at others but about once a week he exposes and idiot as being....and idiot.

Joe Scarborough has been doing his dead level best to try to obscure how much of a right wing ideologue he is lately on his show. He still opposes just about everything the rest of the wingnuts oppose but he finds different more plausible reasons for opposing them. But with healthcare reform for instance he really doesn't want it to go through because he knows it will help Democrats. So he spins it as a deficit problem to make it seem like he opposes it because he is a fiscal scold.

But Tweety just owns him on the discussion of the politics of the situation. Scarborough is totally wrong in just about every aspect of his argument. But instead of conceeding it he just kept on talking through the break because he hates it when a guest shows him for who he is and what his positions are. And to his credit Tweety just kept busting him in the mouth with the truth. I doubt if Chris Matthews will be invited back any time soon.

Thats A Wrap

Harold Ford Jr officially no longer has any place in the Democratic Party. The only thing that is left is to hear him announce he is switching parties. I actually used to like that guy, especially since we share a hometown but he can duck a sick from this point forward. He was already suspect as hell with his weaksauce appearances on Morning Joe but when you show yourself to be a bed wetting coward I can no longer ride with you at all.

Every Once In A While...

This is what pisses me off about Chris Matthews. About once or twice a week he can lay the smackdown as he did today to Mike Pence like nobody's business. But then the rest of the time he is damn near a blithering idiot. I swear man every time I am close to totally writing him off he will pull an interview like this out of his ass. The way he exposed Congressman Pence as a fundamentalist bible thumping, anti-science, anti-progress, anti green energy, wingnutastic buffoon was just masterful. By the end of the interview you just knew that Pence was going to whup whomever booked him on that show's ass big time. Dammit Tweety can we get this out of you on more of a regular basis? Sheesh.

Willful Ignorance

I watched this segment on Hardball yesterday and one thing became clear, the Villagers don't want to hear the truth. Time and time again Chris Matthews and Pat Buchannan tried to used the "means justify the ends" defense to excuse the torture of detainees. Time and time again Johnathan Turley kept reminding them THAT ITS FUCKING ILLEGAL TO TORTURE PEOPLE. Near the end showing that Tweety just doesn't think breaking the law is that big of a deal, he asks Turley why he is being such an absolutist about this. Whiskey Tango Fire? What part of ITS FUCKING ILLEGAL TO TORTURE PEOPLE can Tweety not understand? I thought Professor Turley did a hell of a job of sparring with those idiots but it was a lost cause. Of course Chris Matthews and Pat Buchannan had no such hangups when it came to trying to impeach President Clinton for getting some head. That to them was a lot more clear cut illegal behavior than waterboarding people is. Such is the mindset of the Village. IOKIYAR is now an institutional part of their mindset.

I should also point out that after handing out a Hardball award to John McCain Tweety made the remark that McCain should have won the Presidency in 2000. I used to try to take up for Matthews but now I think he has just lost his damn mind.

Pro Torturist John Ensign had better get his weight up the next time he decides to go on Hardball. Attacking Tweety will get your ass smacked down with the quickness, especially when its a topic that he actually has an interest in. Funny how just like the difference between Wall Street traders and GM union members the pro torture GOPers treat Bush administration figures way different from the rank and file soldiers who they couldn't get enough of bashing.

Tweety PWNS Scarborough

After watching Joe Scarborough yell at Mika today it was great to see Tweety PWN him on his own show. Funny how Scarborough never yells at a man though. Tweety asked the question that I really wanted asked. The wingnuts, Scarborough included, seems to believe that the only way we can keep from being attacked by al Queda is to torture people, but they never acknowledge that the intelligence community TOLD President Bush BEFORE 9-11 that al Queda was trying to attack America. Richard Clarke damn near crusaded to try to get the Bush administration to take the threat seriously and to attack THEM preemptively. Yeah the intelligence community could have communicated better between themselves but the information was there, it just wasn't acted upon. And we didn't get that information from torture.

Lawrence O'Donnell gave such a complete and thorough ass whupping to Pat Buchannan today that Uncle Pat was reduced to personal attacks. I am beginning to see that O'Donnell is a grade A shit talker and although he is annoying at times I am fast becoming a fan.

Gotta Take The Good With The Bad

I have been swimming upstream against the tide of liberal/progressive outrage about the potential for a Chris Matthews run for the Senate in Pennsylvania. The truth is the guy frustrates the hell out me on a regular basis with some of the stuff he lets people get by with saying on his show. He also isn't above trashing the Clintons and creating phony controversies for kicks and giggles. But I tolerate Tweety because maybe once or twice a week he pulls off something like this. Now whenever someone can find another talking head that consistently PWNS lying ass conservatives on a major cable network I am going continue to ride with Tweety. I might not vote for him if I lived in Pennsylvania and if he chose to run, but I don't and so far he hasn't so its a none issue for me. To me its a dog whistle for the left like the "fairness doctrine" is a dog whistle for the right. But regardless of that, if he keeps on putting in this kinda work, I will keep on being a fan of his.
