Did The New York Times Get Rick Rolled?

For the better part of the last two hours I have been doing all manner of internet searches for this Jake DeSantis guy who wrote the GBCW screed in the New York Times today and his position with AIG. It all started because I did a quick Google search and thought I found him when I found this guy named Anthony J. DeSantis who is a VP at AIG but with the wrong division. After I posted a link to Anthony's information over at Swampland it was pointed out to me that it wasn't the right guy. Well I have now looked all over the net includinng here, here and here and there is no sign of an Executive VP at AIGFP by the name of Jake DeSantis. Now I am going to allow for the fact that he could indeed exist but I can tell you one thing other than a recently posted LinkedIn profile and the NYTimes op-ed he doesn't actually exist in tandem with AIG on the intertubes. I wonder if anybody else has tried to contact the guy or at least verify that he exists?

If he DOESN'T exist then the New York Times will have lost ALL credibility. That much is for sure!

PWNED On National Tee Vee

Yesterday before President Obama's Press Conference I heard that Ed Henry likes to write his questions down in advance. After watching him get his ass handed to him I have to say he should have saved the ink.

Yes the rest of the press core laughed at you last night Ed Henry. No amount of spinning by your colleagues at CNN will change the fact that you got dismissed like the pretentious prick that you are in front of everybody. Deal with it.

Taibbi On AIG And The Financial Crisis

I was going to excerpt some of Matt Taibbi's column entitled "The Big Takeover" but there was so much information that I couldn't decide what to chose. So I am recommending you go over and read the whole thing. Its 8 pages but well worth your time.

Glenzilla On The Republican Hypocrisy Over AIG

Just pointing you in the right direction.

Maybe Lawrence O'Donnell Should Host Meet The Press

I just love the fact that Republicans think Eric Cantor is their future. This idiot couldn't answer a follow up question if you gave him cue cards. The only problem is that usually no one asks him any including David Gregory. Well I bet Joe Scarborough hates that he had Cantor on at the same time as Lawrence O'Donnell. Cantor might never forgive him! lol

The Story That None Of The MSM Is Covering

In the rush to pat themselves on the back for their coverage of the AIG bonus scandal the mainstream media folks missed probably the best round of questioning of AIG CEO Edward Liddy and new information about more bonuses. Thats what happens when you already have a meme framed and are just looking for information to further it. Had the media stuck around for/paid attention to Rep Elijah Cummings' questions there might have been a lot of different headlines this morning.

One billion dollars of bonuses would seem a lot more compelling to me than $170 million dollars worth.

Rush Limbaugh Thinks You're A Peasant

Rush Limbaugh came out in favor of allowing AIG executives to keep their fat cat bonuses. For all of you out there who are outraged over them using the bailout money in such an irresponsible fashion Rush thinks you and the rest of your "peasant" friends to kick rocks and get over it or risk being labeled communist like those lefty librul Democrats.

TYT and Cenk Uygur are on the case

Now the question of course is not if but WHEN the Republican leadership will totally change their tune and endorse paying out the bonuses so they can continue to kiss Rush's fat ass. Right now I am putting the over under at 9 am tomorrow morning. So by that time someone in the Republican "leadership" (yeah I know thats an oxymoron) in either the House or the Senate will come out and say its wrong to try to limit the pay for AIG and people on Wall Street. Now I am sure that people like Gov Sanford in South Carolina or Gov. Perry in Texas probably won't even take that long to flip the script. But like I saide earlier about the angry populist mobs, it doesn't take much to get them to turn on you after you have gotten them riled up. And when they notice that the "conservatives" are trying to protect the fat cats all hell is bound to break loose. I will definitely be watching these developments closely.

Check The List Of Hypocrites

If you are confused by the GOP's outrage about the AIG bonuses there is a very good reason for that.

Why I Am Not Blogging AIG......Yet

The story of AIG and the bonuses is still unfolding and I have decided to take the long view and wait a little while longer until enough information comes in before I decide to wade into these very contentious waters. There is a very good reason for this in my mind, I don't know enough to give an informed enough opinion yet. Also the story is changing and evolving hour to hour. Just yesterday I was all ready to jump on the "Leave Chris Dodd Alone" bandwagon and then come to find out today that he was lying through his teeth and that he had in fact changed the language in the stimulus bill to allow for the AIG bonuses. So instead of making a ginormous fool out of myself I am going to wait and then give it to you the best I can. In the meantime I highly recommend that you go to talkingpointsmemo or Greg Sargent's "The Plum Line" blog to get updates as that is where I will be getting a lot of my info. They are both on my blogroll right over there ----------------------->

If you have any thoughts on AIG of your own consider this an open thread.
