Why Bushies Are Pussies

Im glad to see that Keith Olbermann allowed Lawrence O'Donnell onto his show to finish his thoughts from yesterday morning about former Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen. The point he made that stood out the most to me is that Bushies are allowed to say whatever vile and despicable thing they want to about President Obama but if you say anything at all in response, even things that are factually true, they act like you kicked their dog or something and go running for cover. Their poutrage is so over the top as to be laughable, but when they have allies in the media like Joe Scarborough they have nothing to worry about. They can spew all the venom they want and he will cut people's mikes off and go to commercial when you lob the bombs back at them.

Pussies, the lot of em.

The Liberal MSNBC

Will members of the media who keep equating MSNBC to FoxNews please explain when FoxNews has a liberal on their programming for 3 straight hours who yells and berates guests on a regular basis, always favors liberal and Democratic ideals, and would be such a hypocrite as to shut off a conservative's mike and command his producers to go to commercial when that conservative was holding a liberal guest's feet to the fire?

Im waiting....

For the record both Joe Scarborough and Marc Theissen are pussies.

That is all.

They Are Who We Thought They Were

The Cheneys are immoral and reprehensible people and just a piss poor sychophantic family. Nobody should expect them to ever take the high road. They have not a wit of familiarity with it.

#STFUMACHINE In Action!

If you twitter you know what hashtags are. For those who don't know, on twitter when you are talking about a particular subject and you want people who aren't following you or just people who are also talking about the same subject to be able to find your tweet you signify it with a hashtag. A hashtag can pretty much be anything you want it to be as long as it begins with a "#".

Well Lawrence O'Donnell does such a good job of pushing back on right wing ideologues on MSNBC that a bunch of us created the #STFUMACHINE hashtag for when we want to talk about a new clip where he PWNS some hapless wingnut. Today, as the guest host for "Hardball", he took it to a whole new level interviewing Republican Congressman John Culberson of Texas. Not only did he call him out for hypocrisy in the debate on health care reform, he also flat out called him a liar several times, something that you hardly EVER see on cable news no matter how bad a guest is full of shit.

I'm kinda hoping that they end up giving him the 10pm time slot. Olberman, Maddow and then LOD would be one helluva lineup!

Better To Be Silent And Thought A Fool

Somebody should have finished that saying for teabagger Katy Abram. She brings new meaning to the phrase "no nothing". Lawrence O'Donnell was great drawing out all over her stupid for all the world to see.

She said she "saw on TV" that President Obama said we would go to a single payer system in 5 years. Anybody wanna take a bet that it was FoxNews?

Anybody? Bueller?

Lawerence O'Donnell FTMFW!

I was going to do a post about Charles Blow's excellent column this morning on "Gates-gate" but then I happened across this Lawrence O'Donnell column on the same subject. I still highly recommend Blow's piece because it comes from the angle of personal ancedotes and data related to racial profiling. For that matter Stanley Fish also has a good article up on his personal experiences with Skip Gates as well in the New York Times. In point of fact I still may post on it just because I have my own personal ancedotes about being racially profiled as well. However the reason I want to focus on O'Donnell's column is because it goes more to the heart of President Obama's comment without having it be conflated with racial profiling.

The President said the Cambridge police acted "stupidly" when they arrested Henry Louis "Skip" Gates at his home after they knew it was his home. That is almost what I would call a no brainer. In what world does it make sense to arrest a man that is in his own home and isn't threatening anyone no matter how loud he gets? What the hell ever happened to free speech? And where are all of the conservatives in this who normally grouse about the tyranny of cops who infringe on a person's right at their home?

Well Lawrence O'Donnell gets at what this arrest was about whether race played a role in it or not. It was about power. It was about a cop deciding that he didn't have to take criticism from a citizen and then abused his power by arresting him to "show him whose boss".

There is no crime described in Crowley's official version of the way Gates behaved. Crowley says explicitly that he arrested Gates for yelling. Nothing else, not a single threatening movement, just yelling. On the steps of his own home. Yelling is not a crime. Yelling does not meet the definition of disorderly conduct in Massachusetts. Not a single shouted word or action that Crowley has attributed to Gates amounts to disorderly conduct. That is why the charges had to be dropped.

In classically phony police talk, Crowley refers to "[Gates'] continued tumultuous behavior." When cops write that way, you know they have nothing. What is tumultuous behavior? Here's what it isn't: he brandished a knife in a threatening manner, he punched and kicked, he clenched his fist in a threatening manner, he threw a wrench or, in the Gates house, maybe a book. If the subject does any of those things, cops always write it out with precision. When they've got nothing, they use phrases that mean nothing. Phrases like tumultuous behavior.

Unless you confess to a crime,or threaten to commit a crime, there is nothing you can say to a cop that makes it legal for him to arrest you. You can tell him he is stupid, you can tell him he is ugly, you can call him racist, you can say anything you might feel like saying about his mother. He has taken an oath to listen to all of that and ignore it. That is the real teachable moment here — cops are paid to be professionals, but even the best of them are human and can make stupid mistakes.

snip

The president was right when he called the arrest stupid. It doesn't mean Crowley is stupid. It means that, in that moment, he made a stupid choice. Barack Obama has made some stupid choices on occasion too. We all do. Everyone who is defending Crowley's arrest, including his union, needs to re-read his report. There is a crime described in there. In fact, Sergeant Crowley's report is a written confession of the crime of false arrest.

See when you strip all the other BS out of the way as President Obama himself did during the press conference, it still boils down to a stupid decision by the police officer to arrest Gates for yelling at him. There is no such charge and because Sgt James Crowley is supposed to be the professional in that interaction the onus is actually on him to deescalate the situation. Guess what would have done the most to turn down the volume? Crowley and the rest of the cops leaving that's what. Arresting a man at his own home did the opposite of that, whether it was because of race or just ego tripping. And thats what we call around my way stupid.

And Now For The Main Event!

Goodmorning America brings us the match up we have been hoping for. Liz Cheney vs Lawrence O'Donnell. Unfortunately because this was a "polite" setting O'Donnell couldn't unload the clip like I am sure he wanted to so it didn't quite live up to the hype. However make no mistake, this was absolutely an PWNING.

Did you notice that Liz Cheney had no comeback to any of Lawrence O'Donnell's questions? Did you also notice that she totally made up some shit about we only prosecuted people for waterboarding because they did "some additional things" other than waterboarding? I loved how O'Donnell hit back when Liz said 14% of detainees who were released from GITMO "returned to the fight" (which we know isn't true) by pointing out that it was her dad who let them out in the first place. Now if only we could get that same match up somewhere like "Hardball" or "Morning Joe"

MSNBC Needs To Hire That Man

MSNBC needs to stop bullshitting and give Lawrence O'Donnell his own show!

I just keep praying for the day that Liz Cheney makes the mistake of showing up on MSNBC when O'Donnell is there.

Barry Goldwater And The CIA

If you go over to the "Morning Joe" website and look at the clips for today you wouldn't know that Lawrence O'Donnell was even on the show today. The reason why might be the fact that O'Donnell pointed out that Barry Goldwater, like Pelosi did yesterday, said the CIA lied to him back in 1984. Because Joe Scarborough and the rest of his yes men and women had spent all morning trying to convince the world that the CIA NEVER lies this was probably an inconvenient truth for them.

Thank God for MediaMatters

Now notice that in order to support torture Joe Scarborough is willing to defame one of the major players in the conservative movement, Barry Goldwater, by saying he was crazy. That is the state of Republicans and wingnuts today. They will throw anybody, even their most revered icons, under the bus in order to protect the Republican brand. Disgusting.

There Go Dat Man

Lawrence O'Donnell strikes again. This time on Morning Joe. With just one question he exposed Republican Representative John Shaddeg, who Joe Scarborough had been slobbering over, as a global warming denying hack akin to Rush Limbaugh.

The best part was Scarborough trying to step in and warn Shaddeg about O'Donnell only to have him get PWNED anyway. How long before MSNBC announces that he is going to get his own show?

Like A Hot Knife Through Butter

Lawrence O'Donnell guest hosted "The Ed Show" tonight and this guy was choke slamming right wing idjuts left and right. In the first clip he peeled the skin off of both Frank Gaffney's and David Rivkin's hide on the issue of torture. They will be licking those wounds for some time.

And then he took aim at Scott Wheeler over his planned opposition to Judge Sonia Sotomayor should she be President Obama's Supreme Court nominee and blew his ass right out of the water. They may just have to find a place for Larry in the line-up over there at MSNBC.

O'Donnell Calls Out Hannity On Countdown

What can I say, Lawrence O'Donnell has been on fire of late. I don't know if he is just really offended as most of us are about the fact that we tortured the detainees or if he is just getting more aggressive in expressing his views, but O'Donnell is telling it like it is here lately and I applaud him for that. Last night he so accurately described the mentality of the Sean Hannitys of the world. Its called projection and as he said Hannity is soft and because he knows torture would work on him he thinks it would be good to do to other people. Such an utter and complete PWNING.

Now I just hope that he is on Morning Joe sometime soon to bust Joe Scarborough in the mouth with the facts.

Bonus clip of O'Donnell tearing Liz Cheney a new one yesterday after her ridiculous interview on MSNBC.

Lawrence O'Donnell Strikes Again

Someone better start warning the GOP talking heads that end up on MSNBC that if they are paired with Lawrence O'Donnell they better step they game up. Larry ain't playing games here lately.

He's Mad!

Lawrence O'Donnell gave such a complete and thorough ass whupping to Pat Buchannan today that Uncle Pat was reduced to personal attacks. I am beginning to see that O'Donnell is a grade A shit talker and although he is annoying at times I am fast becoming a fan.

Maybe Lawrence O'Donnell Should Host Meet The Press

I just love the fact that Republicans think Eric Cantor is their future. This idiot couldn't answer a follow up question if you gave him cue cards. The only problem is that usually no one asks him any including David Gregory. Well I bet Joe Scarborough hates that he had Cantor on at the same time as Lawrence O'Donnell. Cantor might never forgive him! lol
