Only the next time can we put this ad out BEFORE the Republicans put theirs out? Damn I'm tired of playing defense...

Coburn and Vitter Are The Wile E Coyotes Of The Senate

If you are like me, you grew up on Loony Tunes cartoons. Some of my favorite episodes featured Wile E Coyote plotting against the Road Runner. This guy would get ACME packages every day with some new scheme to do great bodily harm to the Road Runner but then, without fail, the great scheme would end up, literally at times, blowing up in his face.
Well GOP Senators Tom Coburn and David Vitter thought they had this great idea of how to really stick it to the Democrats in the Senate. Like their wingnut Republican base, they were SURE the Democrats weren't really serious about the public option and that they would never in a gazillion years agree to be placed on the public option themselves. Mind you this is the kind of crap you could hear on right wing radio or read on right wing blogs all day every day, which should have been the first clue that it was a misguided belief.
But since these cats just KNEW this to be the case they figured the would put all those lefty librul Senators on the spot and put forth an amendment to the health care reform bill where by if the bill passes, every Senator has to be enrolled in the public option. I am sure they were behind closed doors just a skinning and a grinning and slapping each other on the back over how clever they were. There was just one problem. The Democrats actually liked their amendment.
Not only did they like the amendment, they actually wanted to become cosponsors. Evidently it had never occured to them that this could happen and so they didn't know what to do. They hid out for days and didn't take any phone calls from their colleagues on the other side of the aisle. But unfortunately they couldn't prevent Democrats from cosponsoring the amendment once it came to the floor.
You can just picture Coburn and Vitter opening up tiny umbrellas as freshman Democratic Senator Al Franken to the floor to become a co sponsor of their amendment and thus bringing down that big boulder meant for the Democrats right down on their heads.

You Knew This Wouldn't End Well For Him
It was obvious that David "Diapers" Vitter stuck his chin out when he decided to do a "luvfest" attack ad against his probable Democratic challenger, Charlie Melancon, and now Melancon and Louisianna Democrats have gone ahead and thrown a haymaker in response.
Im not sure whom Vitter has a political consultant, but I would hope they are now seeking new employment. LOL
"In contrast to the kind of luvfest David Vitter is used to, this trip was legal, public and no money changed hands'" said Louisiana Democratic Party spokesman Kevin Franck.
"As we all remember, the last time David Vitter made public comments about a 'luvfest' he end up begging for forgiveness. I am anticipating an apology from him for this web ad in the near future."

How To Handle David Vitter
So Senator David Vitter, lover of whores, is once again in the news. This time he is trying to strip funding for Planned Parenthood in the omnibus spending bill. How frikking long are the Democrats in the Senate going to keep allowing this idiot to pull this crap without calling him out? I am hoping against hope that at some point some Democrat has the backbone to get up on the floor of the Senate and ask some variation of this question:
And yes I am totally serious!
"One has to wonder since David Vitter wants to strip money for birth control if he used a condom when he was patronizing the DC Madam."
And yes I am totally serious!

A Stormy Forecast for Vitter in Louisianna
I was about to cut and paste this as a straight story about WingNut Senator Vitter, but Wonkette did such a good job with it that I just HAD to use them instead.
snip
Man, I literally couldn't have said it any better myself.
let’s start the Wonkette coverage with a nice story about this porn-star/stripper lady in Louisiana, and how she will maybe run against national embarrassment David Vitter, the hooker-lovin’ diaperman of the Senate.
It is kind of amazing that Vitter’s still around, this dumb clod. Not so long ago, the idiot wingnut was found to be using the prostitution services of the since-deceased D.C. Madame. Oh, and their were many detailed reports of his particular Republican fetish: forcing prostitutes back home in Louisiana to dress him in adult diapers, for him to poop in.
Vitter simply refused to leave. He was never prosecuted or even investigated by the Senate. And eventually, people forgot about him — at least outside of Louisiana.
snip
But who will run against him? Eh, how about a porn star called Stormy Daniels?
We can’t figure out if the people behind “Draft Stormy” want her to be a Republican or what.
Man, I literally couldn't have said it any better myself.

Senator David "Capn Save A Hoe" Vitter Gets Spanked by Dick Durbin
You would think being caught paying for the pussy would humble a sitting Senator. Not David Vitter. This idiot seems even more emboldened by his scandal than ever and is just spouting as much bullshit as possible I guess in an effort to bombard the discourse enough that maybe something might stick. So now the object of his idiocy is ACORN. Serious people in Congress are trying to keep our country from falling into a ditch and this dumbass is trying to score political points by singling out a non profit that serves the greater good all around the country including in his home state of Louisianna. Well finally Dick Durbin decided to slap this muthafucka silly with his own bullshit and it was truly a sight to behold.
And to add insult to injury the vote on the amendment was an EPIC FAIL.
Justice does still prevail sometimes.

A Note to the GOP
I am sure that the Republicans in Congress are used to the go along to get along Democratic counter parts taking all their attacks and derision laying down, but someone should have slipped them a note letting them know that messing with blue collar union workers is a different kind of animal.
Now that's GANGSTA!
I think that last little bit should be used like McCain's "I would rather lose an election than lose a war" as a sound bite against Senator Vitter in his next re-election bid. Can't you just imagine the slogan"He'd rather pay a prostitute than pay auto workers" in an attack ad? Kinda has a nice ring to it doesn't it?
Union workers aren't bound by Congressional courtesy and I believe this is just one off the first of many shots that will be fired against the Republicans in the coming months and rightly so.
And how about UAW President Ron Gettelfinger representing yesterday after the Republican's killed the auto bailout. I wish Mr. Gettlefinger would run for office, honestly. Why can't we get Harry Reid to put in this kind of work at a press conference?
Last but not least we have the document in question confirmed by MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" detailing the "reasons" for Republican opposition to a bill that didn't even exist at the time of the memo being circulated. I think this shows unequivocally that the GOP didn't care about the economy, working class people or the tax payers one iota. As the memo says they just saw blocking the auto bailout as an opportunity to "their first shot against organized labor". Hopefully all of the blue collar union workers around the country will remember this the next time they hear a Republican say they are for the little guy. Where is Joe the Plumber, Tito the Builder or Sarah the Teacher for a reaction when you really need them? I expect this to be a core issue in 2010 and 2012 and if it isn't it should be.
"I don't know what Sen. Vitter has against GM or the United Auto Workers or the entire domestic auto industry; whatever it is, whatever he thinks we've done, it's time for him to forgive us, just like Sen. Vitter has asked the citizens of Louisiana to forgive him, " said Johnson, president of Local 2166. Otherwise, Johnson said of Vitter, it would appear, "He'd rather pay a prostitute than pay auto workers."
Now that's GANGSTA!
