Andy McCarthy Should Be Tasting Adam Sewer's Shoe Leather Right About Now

Adam Sewer put his foot so far up Andy McCarthy's ass over his ridiculous post on Eric Holder's appearance yesterday at the Senate hearings over trying KSM that if he tried to talk right now he couln't because he would have Adam's foot in his mouth. This dude is a clown and there is no reason for any rational person to take him seriously anyway but just in case Sewer's PWNAGE crushed him.

Race Cards Flying Everywhere

So I am over at memeorandum and I happen to see a story about teenager in St Louis getting beat up on the bus. I am curious about why such a story is posted on memeorandum and is being linked to by all these wingnut blogs so I go to check it out. Evidently a police captain claimed that the attack was racially motivated. Now, as you may have guessed, the reason it drew attention from the wingnut blogs which are usually loathe to talk about racially motivated beatings is because it was a black kids beating up a white kid. Now check out the key passage in the original story:

"In my estimation, it's racially motivated," said Capt. Don Sax of the Belleville Police Department. He said one reason he had formed this opinion was that many of the students, most of whom were black, yelled their support for the beating.

"There was absolutely no justification for the beating either time," Sax said.

So to sum it up, this police captain has come to the conclusion that the beating was racially motivated at least in part because other black students were yelling their support. Pretty flimsy no? Isn't this normally the kind of weak tea that wingnuts decry when its a situation where a white person is accused of a racially motivated beating of a minority? I mean surely this by itself isn't enough to draw such a conclusion is it?

Welp when its a black on white crime and its the hypocritical wingnutosphere its obviously more than enough.

One post in particular caught my eye because it was from Michelle Malkin who usually says she hates people playing the "race card". Amazingly though she goes into quite a lenghty diatribe about this case when its far from certain that it was in fact a racially motivated attack.

Ok so I am being just a little bit snarky here because the level of hypocrisy on this one is just through the roof but I haven't even gotten to the best part yet. First of all lets check out some of the things her commenters had to say about the post.

One says:

Can you tell me there is no race war going on? While white people sit around shaking their heads and looking the other way black people have made every possible issue about race and their anger is erupting more daily. It’s only going to get worse.

Another says

Lovely. “They” are empowered by folks such as West and Serena Williams.

With people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson fanning the flames of racism, it is no surprise.

Another says

The black community race baiters encourage this behavior by telling young black kids that whitey is keeping them down.
It’s no different than middle-easterners telling their children that Jews and Americans are keeping them down, though they do it with even more hate.

The outcome is expected and wanted by the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons of the world. “Let’s you and him fight” has always been the tactic of those lacking in basic decency and courage.

And yet another says

the city of belleville has been targetted by racist blacks from east st louis for decades. the city of belleville was founded by whites driven out of east st louis in the 60s, and now they have a nice suburban city with a nice school district and a shopping district. over the past several years, they have faced racism charges because they dare to protect their people and their property. the police chief was labelled a racist because he stopped cars full of blacks cruising his streets at night. the mall owners have been accused because they won’t allow these gang thugs from east st louis to destroy the mall as they did in north st louis county. but of course the bussing of those poor yutes from the east st louis ghetto to the white school supported by it’s citizens gives ample access for thuggery. the belleville school district should eliminate bussing these thugs into the district.

But none of the people leaving those comments are racists right?

Oh I forgot to mention one thing, the story has since been updated and the police captain has totally back peddled.

BELLEVILLE -- A Belleville police spokesman now says an incident where a white student was beaten by teen black assailants on a bus “may not be racially motivated.”

“It was premature on my part,” said Belleville Police Capt. Don Sax. “It was my personal and emotional comment after only seeing the video briefly.”

Sax said police interviewed the 17-year-old Belleville West High student.
However, he said he was unaware of what the student told police.

See this guy made his assessment of this being a racially motivated attack without having even interviewed the students involved nor having any facts other than seeing the video to which he had a visceral reaction.

Now honestly I don't begrudge the man being repulsed by the video. I probably would have been too regardless of the race of the kids involved. But he totally jumped the shark when he claimed it was a racially motivated crime. As a police captain he should know a lot better than that.

Now of course since the story has been updated and it turns out the captain was wrong, surely these wingnuts who just hate race based justice have recanted and updated all of their blogs right?

BUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Several of the comments on Malkin's blog I just posted were put up AFTER someone in comments on her blog posted the update. Mind you she didn't update her own post, but presumably the people leaving comments read what other folks had already said. Still they just couldn't resist piling on could they?

But again, surely they aren't racists.

By the way, if anybody tries to tell you that at least some of the backlash Kanye is facing from being an asshole at the VMAs is about race, don't you believe it, not one single word!

Media Matters Is On The Case

A new video being pushed by the wingnut blogosphere purports to show President Obama plotting a secret government takeover of health insurance. The first thing that should be obvious is if this was supposed to be a secret then why exactly was then Senator Obama talking it about it in speeches and in interviews? That was enough to make me call bullshit but I realize that doesn't really qualify as evidence.

Enter Media Matters where they work tirelessly to debunk these kinds of stories before they can take hold. Here is what they found.

Video crops Obama comments to suggest employer coverage would be "eliminated" by his plan

Contrary to cropped video, Obama did not suggest "employer coverage" would be "eliminate[d]" in 10 to 20 years. Obama stated: "But I don't think we're going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There's going to be potentially some transition process. I can envision a decade out or 15 years out or 20 years out where we've got a much more portable system" [cropped comments in italics].

Obama stated during forum that under his plan, employers "still have the option of providing coverage." Following the remarks included in the YouTube video, Obama stated that under that "much more portable system": Employers still have the option of providing coverage, but many people may find that they get better coverage, or at least coverage that gives them more for health care dollars than they spend outside of their employer. And I think we've got to facilitate that and let individuals make that choice to transition out of employer coverage."

Later in forum, Obama stated that under his plan, pooling options would exist "in addition to the employer based system." Obama stated: "[O]ne thing that I think is important is to recognize that there are a lot of small employers who would like to get health care for their workers but they themselves can't afford it because they don't have access to large enough pools to allow them to save money. That's why I think it's going to be important for us in whatever system that we set up to make sure that in addition to the employer based system that we've got an alternative system that individuals who aren't getting it through the job can access."

I have to wonder if we would even have a President Obama without a Media Matters to help beat back all the lies and smears floating around about him last year. And now with the fight for health care reform they are just as imporatant in helping to keep the wingnuts from taking over the framing of the issue.

Obama Had Sanford Murdered?!

Can you tell if this is a parody of the wingnut blogosphere or a real post?

These days its hard to say...
