Freely Giving Cover For Racists

So James Carville and Stan Greenberg have come out with a study on the opposition that purports to prove that they are against President Obama because of ideological differences and not because of racism. An exact quote:

"Instead of focusing on these intense ideological divisions, the press and elites continue to look for a racial element that drives these voters' beliefs - but they need to get over it. Conducted on the heels of Joe Wilson's incendiary comments at the president's joint session address, we gave these groups of older, white Republican base voters in Georgia full opportunity to bring race into their discussion - but it did not ever become a central element, and indeed, was almost beside the point."

Yeah, because you know how racists just LOVE to admit their racism.

What an epic fucking fail from those two. I have no idea how they think this helps President Obama or Democrats for everybody to put their head in the sand about racism in this country but it does prove yet again that Attorney General Eric Holder was absolutely right earlier this year when he said when it comes to matter of race we are a nation of cowards. Good white liberals tend to run for the hills whenever the topic of racism comes up, quick to try to dismiss it and get it out of the public conversation. We saw it just a little while ago. As soon as Jimmy Carter said what should be obvious to anybody, that much of the most ferverent opposition to President Obama stemmed from racism those same good white liberals were falling all over themselves to hurry up and rush to a mic and disagree.

Got damn its frustrating.

This has nothing to do with "most" Republicans or "most" Conservatives. But if you don't think there is a blatant element of racism in the tea bagging movement and in many of these townhall shouters and random protestors bring guns to President Obama's speeches then you are nucking futs. Its really that simple.

But I so look forward to the next big story where a Republican/Conservative says something racist about President Obama and then in defending themselves they say "even the liberal study by Carville and Greenberg...."

You already know its gonna happen. Its just a matter of when.

You Want Names? I'll Give You Names!

Here are the names of the 12 House Democrats that voted against censuring Congressman Joe Wilson.

Michael Arcuri (NY), Bill Delahunt (MA), Gabrielle Giffords (AZ), Maurice Hinchey (NY), Paul Hodes (NH), Dennis Kucinich (OH), Dan Maffei (NY), Eric Massa (NY), Jim McDermott (WA), Gwen Moore (WI), Gene Taylor (MS), and Harry Teague (NM).

These 5 House members voted present.

Eliot Engel (NY), Bill Foster (IL), Barney Frank (MA), Carol Shea-Porter (NH), and Ike Skelton (MO).

Now maybe they think they had good reasons not to vote yes. I personally can't think of any. And although there are people on both lists who I like and admire, they all are going to have to answer for their votes at some point. Especially if there is another Republican outburst like that.

It is what it is.

I Don't Know About Anybody Else But....

...I would have been much more impressed if I had heard that President Obama called Joe Wilson a jackass!

Im just sayin.

GOPolitico And Their Rampant False Equivalency

I don't agree with Glenzilla in this post about whether what Joe Wilson was egregious or not, but thats about the only thing I can find a quibble with and he accurately portrays how Politico and other mainstream media outlets create a bizarro world when it comes to politics all in the name of false equivalency.

Take It Away Keith!

A "Real" Democrat?

I am loathe to give Arlen Specter any compliments because I know a lot of people on the left only see him as a shiftless coward who won't be a reliable vote. I will say that I am sympathetic to that feeling, but so far the guy has been towing the company line. He is a helluva lot more reliable than guys like Ben Nelson or Joe Lieberman, that's for sure. And this rant of his about Joe Wilson deserves to be highlighted.

"He apologized immediately afterward but I don't think that's adequate... If an apology is the consequence of an outburst I think we can expect more -- that's not a sufficient penalty that's not a sufficient price to pay... I'm not saying the guy should be kicked out of the House... But there ought to be some rebuke, reprimand, censure -- something that will discourage that kind of conduct in the future. If you do that to the President, it's open season."

Again I am not promoting the guy but he said what every single Democrat should be saying today about Joe Wilson.

The Sad State Of Our Media

A dailykos diarist predicts the media's evolution of the story on Joe Wilson's "You Lie" scream last night. Unfortunately its not all that funny because it really could happen.
