ONE MILLION FACEPALMS

ALSO BANGING MY HEAD AGAINST THE DESK...

"Absent a stunning turn of events, we're not going to do tax cuts before the election," the aide told TPM.

The aide said it's already a winning message without a vote since Obama and Democrats have framed the debate as the Republicans being for the rich and Democrats wanting to help the middle class. Others have made similar arguments, but several lawmakers have said they think a vote is the only way to score a political victory. The senior aide doesn't think so.

"We have a winning message now, why muddy it up with a failed vote, because, of course, Republicans are going to block everything,"

What order of hyproponic enhanced reefer are these stupid muthafuckas smoking???!!!???

Its a winning message? Oh well that must be why Democrats are doing SOOOOOOO great in polling.

Got dammit man how hard is it just to take the damn vote. FUCK IF IT FAILS! Hell in reality maybe its BETTER if it fails because then you can actually say "We wanted to do X but those assholes over there blocked it". Now what exactly can you say? That you thought it was a great idea but you decide since you couldn't pass it you acted like a pussy and never brought it up for a vote?

Yeah, that's GREAT FUCKING MESSAGING THERE DEMS!

Days like this make it really really REALLY hard to be a Democrat.

Ugh...

I Guess We Have Our Answer

WASHINGTON – President Obama will rule out on Wednesday any compromise that would extend the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy beyond this year, officials said, adding a populist twist to an election-season economic package that is otherwise designed to entice support from big businesses and their Republican allies.

Mr. Obama’s opposition to allowing the high-end tax cuts to remain in place for even another year or two would be the signal many Congressional Democrats have been awaiting as they prepare for a showdown with Republicans on the issue and ends speculation that the White House might be open to an extension. Democrats say only the president can rally wavering lawmakers who, amid the party’s weakened poll numbers, feel increasingly vulnerable to Republican attacks if they let the top rates lapse at the end of this year as scheduled.

NYTimes

Some days it really is good to be an Obama Democrat

And Right On Cue...

..here's Peter Orszag moving the middle to the right yet again. I know he no longer works for the Obama administration but here's my prediction. The media will give him MORE credibility now that he is both a) out of the administration and b) is going against the administration.

So even though most credible economists think we should discontinue ALL of the Bush tax cuts, not even keeping the ones for the middle class, Orszag wants us to continue them ALL for another two years. So now instead of the administration arguing for discontinuing all of them or at least the ones for the upper 1% of the nation, and then negotiating from there with Republicans who argue for keeping them permanently, now the argument will quickly go to whether to extend ALL of them for another 2 years or permanently.

Listen, I don't know if the administration put Orszag up to this or not but either way you can bank on the conversation going that way. And if they are smart and they DIDN'T put him up to it they will smack that shit down like Mutumbo. If they handle it with kid gloves...well then you have your answer.

Rubio Tells The Truth On Tax Cuts

Well lookie lookie. That pinko liberal commie Marco Rubio actually admitted that tax cuts don't pay for themselves. Of course the media will deem him telling the truth as a gaffe.

Wait for it....

Wait for it....

The Public Is On Your Side

Any Democrats in Congress skittish about repealing the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy should read this polling from National Journal ASAP!

Regarding the tax cuts, 30 percent of Americans believe all of Bush's 2001 and 2003 cuts should stay in place. That compared to 31 percent who believed that all of them should be repealed. Twenty-seven percent take the route Obama campaigned on: Tax cuts for the wealthy should be repealed, while the others should stay in place.

Sign up for E-Mail Alerts to be notified of poll updates. That sentiment was consistent across income lines. Among those making more than $75,000, 26 percent said only the tax cuts for the wealthy should be repealed. For those making $30,000 to $74,999, 31 percent concurred. And among those making less than $30,000, 28 percent said the tax cuts for the wealthy should be overturned.

Independents hewed closest to the overall sample. Twenty-seven percent said all the tax cuts should be kept in place. Thirty-two percent said they all should be repealed. Twenty-seven percent said the tax cuts for the wealthy should be repealed, but the middle class cuts should be kept in place.

For those scoring at home 59% of INDEPENDENTS support repealing some or all of the Bush tax cuts.

This is a no brainer at this point and any Democrat who can't see that simply doesn't want to. And for those who don't want to?

We are coming after your ass...

Bu Bu But You Said That Was SOCIALISM!!!

Remember Douglas Holtz-Eakin, John McCain's dickish chief economic advisor? Well perhaps you might recall what he said about then Senator Obama's plan to allow the Bush tax cuts expire for those making more that $250,000 socialism. Funny how when there is no more campaign and he has to rebuild his credibility as an economist that he is now singing a different tune.

Though economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin spent the 2008 presidential campaign advising Sen. John McCain to defend the Bush-era tax cuts, he now thinks they should be allowed to expire on Dec. 31, 2010 due to "the prospect of an Argentina-style fiscal meltdown."

Said Holtz-Eakin: "If you ask: 'Who pays the taxes?', it's the first step toward not having the answer be: 'Our kids.'"

At what point will the Republican base wake up and realize they are being lied to just so Republican politicians can stay or get into office? I hope its soon but I am not holding my breath.
